No, you don’t need a swimsuit or a bar of soap. Forest Bathing is about soaking up the
sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures of the forest—not scrubbing down in a
stream. Think of it as nature’s spa day for your soul.
If you can manage a slow stroll or even just sitting under a tree, you’re good to go. No
marathons, step counters, or yoga poses required. Most walks are about 1 km or less,
at a very slow pace.
You’ll wander around (or linger in one spot) like a curious squirrel and be offered gentle
invitations to help you feel more connected to nature. Bonus: No acorns or tail fluffing
involved.
About 2 to 3 hours—plenty of time to unwind, but not so long that you start wondering
what’s for dinner.
Dress like you’re going to meet the weather for a casual hangout. Layers are your
friend. Bring water, a snack, and maybe a comfy mat or chair—because tree trunks
aren’t exactly La-Z-Boys. I will have extras.
That depends. Can they sit still for more than five minutes without asking for Wi-Fi? If
so, bring them along! Otherwise, let’s chat about family-friendly options. I find 14-to-85-
year-olds are most receptive to this opportunity to slow down, and parents really enjoy a
break from children.
Nope. You don’t need to chant “om” or twist into a pretzel. Just show up with an open
mind and a willingness to slow down—like, really slow down.
There’s no such thing as bad weather, only poor wardrobe choices. But seriously, walks
will continue in light rain or snow—it just adds to the ambiance! Thunderstorms or
blizzards? Mother Nature gets a timeout, and we’ll reschedule.
Both! You can join a group and share the zen vibes, or book a private session if you’d
rather whisper secrets to the trees solo. Some choose to do this in complete
silence—always welcome.
Don’t see a walk at a time that suits? Have a group of 5 or more? Send me a message
(under Contact Me) about where and when you’d like to wander in the woods. Though I
live and guide mostly in Barrie, I have great locations throughout Simcoe County, from
Bradford to Collingwood to Orillia, as well as some gems in Uxbridge, Vaughan, Guelph,
Markham, Richmond Hill, and Hamilton. And I’m happy to scout a location that is
convenient for you.
It’s like a multivitamin for your mind and body: less stress, better mood, improved focus,
lower blood pressure, and more immune power to ward off whatever life throws at you.
Side effects may include random bursts of happiness and a good night’s sleep.
Hiking is about reaching a destination. Forest Bathing is about savouring the
journey—like turning off Google Maps and wandering for the fun of it. Plus, there’s no
sweating or summit selfies involved.
Of course! You don’t need to know the difference between an oak and a maple. If you
can appreciate a good breeze or a chirping bird, you’re already halfway there.
No! Taking a techno-break will deepen the therapeutic benefits of your time in nature. Experience JOLO (Joy of Logging Off) by
turning off anything that beeps, vibrates, rings, or flashes.
Focusing on the forest rather than your phone feels good—and the trees will thank you.
You are invited to take photos in the last 10-minutes, if you wish...
Keen to really get in touch with Mother Earth right through your toes and the bottoms of your feet? 'Earthing' or 'Grounding' feels yummy and is so good for you. Take off your shoes whenever you feel the tug to the earth...
No! I adore dogs, but for the peace and comfort of all participants, pups (except for certified therapy dogs) need to sit this one out. Not everyone feels at ease around dogs, and their curious energy can sometimes pull us away from the slow, immersive experience of Forest Bathing. But here’s a fun idea—take your dog on their very own Forest Bathing adventure! Let them lead the way, follow their nose, and notice what catches their attention. Dogs are naturals at being fully present in the moment—who better to be your guide to the wonders of the forest? Or, book a private walk --just me, you and your pup--that would be lots of fun!
Treat a friend or family member as you follow your heart into the healing mystery of the woods in winter.
Just say awe!
